Porcelain Fillings

Porcelain fillings are either inlay or onlay. An inlay is when the porcelain filling is seated in the central biting surface of the tooth, while with an onlay the porcelain filling extends out to also replace the exterior surfaces of the tooth.

The restoration size, the location and the condition of the remaining tooth are all considered when deciding on whether resin filling material or porcelain will produce the best long-term result. For larger restorations and replacements of big, old amalgam fillings, a porcelain inlay or onlay is ideal. They’re incredibly strong, durable, produce beautiful results, and protect your tooth from further damage like cracking or wear. All porcelain inlays and onlays can be completed in a single visit using the CEREC CAD/CAM technology in Mt Barker Dentists’ state of the art on-site laboratory.
